The Lab Pre-Seed Capital Facility

Enabling faster implementation and greater scalability of innovative solutions tackling global climate challenges

Meet the selected ideas
Too many groundbreaking climate finance solutions stall because they lack early-stage funding. To bridge the critical gap between concept and market, the Pre-Seed Capital Facility provides working capital to selected Lab instruments. Conditional grants enable these innovative solutions to realize their potential and catalyze climate finance in vital areas.

How it works

This funding is available only to instruments that have completed the Lab program. A subset of graduating instruments will receive support based on the criteria outlined below. By offering working capital grants that are conditional to meeting pre-determined milestones, the Pre-Seed Capital Facility services a critical need for early stage blended finance fund/facility managers and allows them to fast-track their pathway to first close.

Up to 2 years

Selected instruments will receive grant funding over a maximum period of 24 months.

USD 150-250K

The funding ranges from USD 150,000 to USD 250,000.

Conditional grants

Disbursements will occur in three tranches subject to Proponents achieving pre-determined milestones.

The Selection Process

Innovative climate finance instruments of the recent The Lab’s cohort have the opportunity to apply for the pre-seed conditional grant. The selection is based on a thorough due diligence process, including the careful review of an investment committee consisting of renowned and independent experts within the climate finance space.
