Managing Director, Allianz Climate Solutions
Mr. Karsten Löffler is Managing Director (Geschäftsführer) of Allianz Climate Solutions GmbH (ACS), the Center of Competence of Allianz Group for renewable energy and climate change with its headquarter in Munich, Germany.
ACS offers insurance and risk advisory services on financing issues for renewable energy projects to both external clients and Allianz entities. Furthermore, ACS is responsible for climate related strategy development of Allianz, serves as catalyst for green product development and actively pursues membership in leading finance and insurance associations on climate change.
Prior to joining ACS in 2008, Karsten held different product and sales related positions at Allianz Global Investors in Frankfurt where he last headed the Product Management department. He joined Allianz Group / Dresdner Bank in 1989.
He also represents Allianz on the Management Committee of ClimateWise (a global collaborative insurance initiative on climate change) and on the Investment Commission and the Climate Change Advisory Group of the UNEP Finance Sector Initiative.
Karsten is member of the Board of Directors of Oikocredit U.A., The Netherlands. Oikocredit is a large source of private funding to the microfinance sector, and it provides credit and equity to trade cooperatives, fair trade organisations and small to medium enterprises.
He earned his Diploma in Business Administration at the University of Göttingen, Germany. He is a Certified International Investment Analyst (CIIA).
